A Beginner’s Guide to the Festival of Fantasy Parade

On my last trip to Disney World I got to see the spectacular parade!

Before we saw the parade we ate lunch at Tony’s Town Square. I would suggest going to eat lunch at Tony’s Town Square because it has a parade package. The parade package means you get a great view of the parade. Though this also means that you have to eat a full meal at Tony’s Town Square including dessert. It is a lot of food!

My advice is to eat early and to order something light. Another great thing about Tony’s Town Square is it’s right next to where the parade starts.

I would totally recommend using the parade package because you get to stand in the reserved section while everyone who didn’t use the parade package has to fight for a good spot to stand.

Here is the video of the parade in Magic Kingdom:

A Beginner’s Guide to March of the First Order

March of the First Order is basically when the stormtroopers from Star Wars, led by Captain Phasma, march around Hollywood Studios.

During other parts of the day, I enjoy when the stormtroopers walk by and talk to you. They sometimes say things like, “There is no order without the First Order!”

While the stormtroopers and Captain Phasma walk by, scary First Order music plays. They march around several times a day.

I just found out that the March of the First Order is no longer going on at Hollywood Studios and the stormtroopers are being moved to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Below is a video of March of the First Order from one of our trips.

A Beginner’s Guide to Frontierland

Frontierland is located in Magic Kingdom and has one of my favorite rides. Here is a hint: it’s an outside roller coaster.

Big Thunder Mountain is a fun thrill ride!

Rides: Splash Mountain is a ride that is always going to get you wet. (For a Splash Mountain Review click here!) Big Thunder Mountain is one of my favorite rides. Did you guess correctly? Big Thunder Mountain has more curves than drops. Tom Sawyer Island is a great place to relax and escape the crowd. It is not a ride but the only way to get to Tom Sawyer Island is by boat. Country Bear Jamboree isn’t a ride, but it is a fun show with singing animatronic bears.

Country Bear Jamboree

Food: Golden Oak Outpost has drinks, chicken nuggets, and desserts. Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe has a western theme to it. It has indoor and outdoor seating.

Shopping: Briar Patch has Winnie the Pooh and Splash Mountain merchandise. Prairie Outpost and Supply has jellies and candy. Splash Court has Splash Mountain merchandise. Splashdown Photos has candy and ride photos. Trail Creek Traders has Disney character hats. Big Al’s has sunglasses, water bottles, and Disney World fans. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade is just an arcade room. There is also a General Store, Frontierland Trading Post, and Frontier Mercantile.

Prepare to get wet!

Because Frontierland has some fun rides, I find it very cool!

A Beginner’s Guide to Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland is designed to look like the future! It is located in the Magic Kingdom and it is also home to my favorite ride. I will tell you what ride that is soon.

What a great view from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover!

Rides: Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is a calming ride that gives you a tour of all of Tomorrowland and a great view. One time when we were on the ride it stopped working and we were stuck for 10 minutes! It was crazy! Cast members had to come and bring us to the exit. Tomorrowland Speedway is where you are allowed to drive a car even if you’re not 16! The only problem with this ride is that it smells A LOT like gas. Remember how I said that my favorite ride is in Tomorrowland? Well, I was talking about Space Mountain. (For a Space Mountain review click here!) Space Mountain is a roller coaster in the dark. Carousel of Progress is a relaxing ride for anyone and shows you how far we have come from the turn of the twentieth century. Astro Orbiter is literally on top of Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. It is basically like Dumbo, but faster and higher. Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor is a sit down indoor show. Your friends from Monsters, Inc. are trying to give their city electricity from your laughter. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin is a game similar to Toy Story Mania. (For a Toy Story Mania review click here!) You are basically shooting lasers and trying to take down Emperor Zurg.

The Carousel of Progress!

Food: Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe has burgers, chicken, soups and salads. Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant is open seasonally. Here is a tip: the terrace has a great view of Cinderella’s Castle and it is the location for the Happily Ever After Dessert party. Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies has some delicious sundaes, smoothies, and ice cream. The Lunching Pad has pulled pork sandwiches and snacks. Joffrey’s Revive has some HUGE donuts and recently they have been selling miniature donuts.

The Astro Orbiter is really high in the sky!

Shopping: Merchant of Venus has your favorite character’s merchandise. Mickey’s Star Traders has a lot of Mickey Mouse merchandise.

Buzz!

A Beginner’s Guide to Adventureland

Adventureland is located in Magic Kingdom.

The Jungle Cruise in Adventureland is a lot of fun!

Rides: On the Jungle Cruise you ride on a boat on the Amazon River and see some awesome fake animals. If you have a tour guide that is friendly and fun you will have an amazing experience. I love this ride because it’s fun and relaxing. The Pirates of the Caribbean movies are based on the Pirates of Caribbean ride. Jack Sparrow makes a surprise appearance at least three times. During the beginning of the ride there is a drop. (It’s a small drop.) Basically, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride shows a pirates life style.

The backside of water! (once you go on the ride, you’ll get the joke)

The Enchanted Tiki Room is a show with audio-animation birds. It’s almost never crowded so if you want to escape from the crowd this is your place! In The Magic Carpets of Aladdin you get to fly on a magic carpet and chose if you want to get up or down. This ride may be for little kids but it’s really fun! Here’s a little tip while you’re on the ride: the camels that surround the ride actually squirt water! This overall is a very relaxing ride! I have never done the Swiss Family Treehouse but I do know that you have to walk the entire time. I do not have any interest in trying it because it’s just MORE WALKING and you will be doing enough walking at Disney World.

Jack Sparrow!!!!!

Entertainment: In Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Tutorial, Captain Jack Sparrow and Mack his shipmate will teach you how to become a pirate on his crew. Last time we went Disney World my brother Al did it and he loved it.

Al’s scroll!

Food: The Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen has many different themed rooms. A hidden secret meeting room, a dining room, and a crew mess room. The food their is really good! Tortuga Tavern is a pirate themed restaurant and a counter service dining. Sunshine Tree Terrace has many snacks such as chocolate chip cookies, chocolate or vanilla ice cream, orange slush, juice, and raspberry lemonade slush. Aloha Isle has the one and only DOLE WHIP!! A dole whip is a pineapple soft-serve ice cream that you can get as ice cream or in a float.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Shopping: Agrabah Bazaar is great if you like the movie Aladdin. You will find Aladdin merchandise. Bwana Bob’s is located just when you enter adventureland. It has hats and Minnie ears. Island Supply by Sunglass Hut is just sunglasses. Pirate’s Bazaar has Pirates of the Caribbean merchandise and accessories. Zanzibar Trading Company has safari hats and plush animals.

A Beginner’s Guide to Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival

Mickey, Minnie and Pluto!

This year the 2019 Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival dates are March 6-June 3, 2019.

The Three Caballeros!

If you’re going to Disney World between these dates then you will see the beautiful Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. The Flower and Garden Festival shows some outstanding garden work that makes the plants look like Disney characters: Lightning McQueen, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Pluto are all found at the entrance, Buzz Lightyear is at Mission Space and The Three Caballeros are at the Mexico pavilion.

Woody…

The Garden Passport is free and helps you find the Outdoor Kitchens and has scavenger hunts. It’s really cool! The Outdoor Kitchens are all around the World Showcase Lagoon. They have food for you while you’re at the Flower and Garden Festival.

… and Buzz Lightyear (in front of Mission Space)!

The Garden Rocks Concert now performs nightly! Best part? It’s free with Epcot admission!

Scenes from The Lion King!

The Egg-stravaganza Scavenger Hunt takes place April 5-April 21. You can buy a map and stickers and look for Disney character eggs.

Bambi and friends!

The Epcot Flower and Garden Festival is definitely something worth seeing. Don’t forget to take lots of pictures!

Snow White…
… and some of her dwarfs!

A Beginner’s Guide to the World Showcase: Spotlight on The United States of America

The United States of America pavilion is a very interesting pavilion since it has two shows.

Food: The USA pavilion does not have any table service restaurants, but it does have a counter service restaurant. Liberty Inn has chicken tenders, fruit, hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, and for dessert apple pie or ice cream. Fife & Drum Tavern has hot dogs, smoothies and turkey legs. Funnel Cake stand literally has funnel cakes. Delicious!!!!!

Shopping: The Heritage Manor Gift Shop has pins, toys and art. Hint! Outside of the shop is the Kidcot Fun Stop.

Voices of Liberty

Entertainment: The USA pavilion has a show called The American Adventure. Before the show starts, stop by early and hear the Voices of Liberty. They perform patriotic songs inside in the air conditioning. At The American Adventure, Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain tell you about American History. At the end, they play a catchy song! Also inside the USA pavilion building is the American Heritage Gallery, with American Indian art. Across from The American Adventure show is the America Gardens Theater. It performs different shows and concerts.

A Beginner’s Guide to the World Showcase: Spotlight on Norway

Who knew that Norway could be so warm? Norway is a popular destination since you can meet and greet Princess Anna and Queen Elsa from the movie Frozen. Norway looks just like a Norwegian town square.

Food: Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is the perfect place for princesses! Here you can meet princesses for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You should probably have a dining reservation because it gets crowded here so don’t be surprised to be waiting for a while. You can also find sandwiches and pastries at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe. I would recommend trying the School Bread from here.

Entertainment: The Norway Pavilion has a popular ride called Frozen Ever After. This line is REALLY LONG!! First, you will see Olaf and Sven decorating for the Winter Festivals. The grandfather troll tells the tale of how Anna and Kristoff meet. Towards the end of the ride Elsa is singing Let It Go, then the ride starts going backwards! What a pleasant surprise! Afterwards, you can go meet Princess Anna and Queen Elsa at the Royal Sommerhus.

Shopping: The Wandering Reindeer has Frozen toys, clothes and much more! Curious and Collectibles has interesting books on trolls, Vikings and much more such as clothes and toys.

Vikings!

A Beginner’s Guide to the World Showcase: Spotlight on the United Kingdom

United Kingdom is full of cobble-stoned streets that makes you feel like you’re in the United Kingdom.

What’s not to love?

Food: On my last trip to Disney World I went to Rose & Crown Dining Room. We always sit outside which has a ceiling. I recommend siting outside because you get a great view of the World Showcase Lagoon. I had the English Trifle. It has layers of strawberries, vanilla custard, graham crackers, and whipped cream with Mickey Mouse sprinkles. Yum!!

Shopping: In the Toy Soldier shop you will be able to buy basically anything that has to do with a soldier. Such as swords, shields, real feather quills, children books and movies from the UK. Hint! The Toy Solider store has the Kidcot Fun Stop. The Queen’s Table has books and music from Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. If you like books like me, you will be interested in this store. Calling all soccer fans! The Sportsmans’ Shop has everything to please soccer and rugby fans with jerseys, balls, books, and hats. My brother who is a big soccer fan loves this store! If you love tea, biscuits, and candy The Tea Caddy is for you!

You can meet Mary Poppins!

Entertainment: The UK pavilion does have a band called British Revolution that draws crowds with their great songs. They also have a four-person group called Quicksteps that plays the fiddle, flute, highland bagpipes and an Irish frame drum. You can also take a picture with Alice from Alice in Wonderland or with Mary Poppins.

A Beginner’s Guide to the World Showcase: Spotlight on France

A replica Eifel Tower is in the background.

The France Pavilion is a great place to relax. It is a great pavilion to visit because there is so much to do.

Chefs de France is behind the acrobat show.

Food: Chefs de France is one of the first restaurants you spot in the France Pavilion. The other restaurant is called Monsieur Paul. It is only open for dinner. Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie has croissants, mouthwatering eclairs, mousse, and much more! When I went there I tried the macaroons. They are outstanding! L’Artisan des Glaces is an ice cream shop. It is very popular. Update: La Crêperie de Paris is a restaurant that serves sweet and savory crepes.

Shopping: Souvenirs de France has many classic French souvenirs, such as berets, t-shirts, mini Eiffel Towers and many books about cities, the language, and French artists. This is a store worth checking out.

The acrobat show is awesome!

Entertainment: The France Pavilion does have a show called Impressions de France. Unlike the shows in the China and Canada, you get to sit and watch it like at a movie theater. The show is a little outdated but it’s still a great show. Update: Impressions de France has been replaced with Beauty and the Beast Sing Along. Belle from Beauty and the Beast is available in France for autographs and photos. There is also an acrobat (Serveur Amusant) that performs most of the afternoon. It is a fun and exciting show! France is also getting some new attractions. Ratatouille: The Adventure will be similar to the ride in Disneyland Paris. Chef Skinner will chase guests through Gusteau’s Parisian restaurant on a trackless ride. Can’t wait! Update: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opened on October 1, 2021.
